Obtaining the attenuation coefficient

Hello friends
I am a newbie.
I want to get gamma attenuation data in geant 4 please explain the method fully as I am not professional like you

  1. Create gps → Your photon source (iso)
  2. Material in geometry → Your choice
  3. Detector → Your choice
  4. Physics → EMZ_op1

Place all in symmetry. Run simulation without point 2 and check the number of photons in the detectors. Now run simulation with point 2 and check number of photons in detectors.

use eq. I = Io exp(-ud)

Hi,

There is an example which gives you this
TestEm0 prints out the mean free path, and from there you can calculate attenuation length.

Good luck,
Volodymyr
