Co60 Energy Spectrum - peak brodening

Hi all,

I obtained the spectra of deposited energy in the detector by Co60. However, the photopeaks are shown as delta functions.

Also, the Compton continuum is not clear in the graph, however, we can clearly see it after converting the y scale into a log.

Is there any way we can broaden the peaks to make the spectrum realistic and also encode Compton Continuum in the spectra?

Thank You

The Compton continuum is due to single Compton scattering in the detector with the scattered gamma ray escaping. If the scintillator is large or opaque to gammas, the continuum may be suppressed. In order to provide a more specific answer, please let us know what is your geometry.
