Does G4Material incorporates the refractive index of that material?

Hello everyone,

Simulating the energy deposition by a gamma in a scintillator crystal (without any generation of optical photon), how can the effect of material refractive index be incorporated? In other words, the speed of a particle in a given material corrected for the refraction index of that material?
Or is it automatically being accounted for with Geant4 material definition?

I think when generating optical photons using G4OpticPhysics, we can add the refractive index(to a surface) using the material properties table. I am unsure if this can also be applied to the case without generating any optical photons, only EM processes.

Please share any inputs regarding the same.

Thanks a lot

Refractive index only has an effect for optical photons.
