Can someone, please, help me understand this following simulated event?
I have a photon generating two electrons (at the same initial position and time) via a Compton process.
One electron doesn’t move in space, lives for a short time and has low initial kinetic energy, while the second electron moves longer in space and time and has larger energy.

Both electrons are from the same photon.
Is this an event that electrons of different orbitals in the same atom are being excited?
my impression is that one electron is the Compton electron, directly kicked out by the incoming gamma, while the other is an Auger electron coming from the filling of the atomic vacancy… Which model are you using for the Compton scattering?
please, use UI command “/tracking/verbose 2” - history of simulation will allow to understand what happens. Log file may be long if you will require many events but you may limit the output by this particular event.
Thank you for your tip!
Just to let you know, I will try to implement this as soon as possible (I am using Allpix-squared for the Geant4 simulation, and I will have to hard-code this UI command in the framework code).
I will post the result here as soon as I have it.
Cheers,
M
