How to construct gridding detector in Geant4

I want to get dose distribution and energy straggling for proton and carbon ion beams in water are investigated by using a hadrontherapy model based on the Geant4 toolkit.

can you give some examples or tutorial for gridding detector.

and if there are some tutorials for geant4 , the BookForApplicationDevelopers is too much. I have only read 1 and 2 chapter.
