MicroElec / microelec_SEY: is Al2O3 supported publicly (material tables), and how to enable it?

Hi all,

I’m trying to use Geant4 MicroElec to simulate secondary electron emission (SEY).

My target material is Al₂O₃, but I’m confused about the public support status:

  • The classic advanced example microelectronics documentation lists a limited set of materials (e.g. SiO₂, Kapton, metals), and I don’t see Al₂O₃ there.

  • I’ve also seen references to an SEY-focused example (microelec_SEY) in more recent Geant4 releases, and to extended material databases including Al₂O₃.

Questions:

  1. In the publicly released Geant4 + data packages, is Al₂O₃ already supported by MicroElec (i.e. are the required MicroElec material tables/files distributed)?

  2. If yes: which Geant4 version and which G4EMLOW/G4LEDATA version should I use, and what is the correct way to enable Al₂O₃ (e.g. material naming convention, file location, Region assignment)?

  3. If not: what is the recommended route to proceed for Al₂O₃ SEE?

    • Is there a public branch/repo for the Al₂O₃ tables?

    • Or is the intended approach to generate new tables (and if so, is there guidance/tooling)?

Thank you
