Proton and boron-11 cross-section

Hello all,
I would like to see cross-section of p - boron11 reaction which is used in GEANT4 at the energy range up to few tens MeV. So, I used Hadr00 and Hard03 to extract its value for different physics lists…

and finally I see smooth curve going to zero without any threshold. Does it related to the data interpolation when cross-section values are read from files or it is the problem with original data?

hello Vyacheslav,

unfortunately, QGSP_BERT_HP based physics lists are experimental in 11.2 and we where late to fix known HP problem. It is not done in 11.2.2 and not done in 11.3beta. The fix will be available in 11.3. Because of that not all plots based on this configuration are reliable - may correspond or not to a cross section based on the data. There are two options for you: use FTFP based physics lists or wait for December.

QGSP_BERT_HP

Thanks for the idea to test QGSP_BERT_HP. It has the threshold but the results is the strange too. I hope in the future versions of the GEANT4 the new/updated cross-section data will be used for this reaction.
