Proton and boron-11 fusion

Dear Geant4 experts,

Can I simulate the fusion reaction of proton and boron-11 at approximately 675 keV, as colliding proton and boron-11 beam head-on or sending proton beam to solid boron-11 target, with Geant4?

Best regards, Selman

No

Hi Michel,

Can you briefly explain to me why this is not possible?

Thank you for your reply.
Selman

Playing with Hadr03, I found that threshold for C11 production is ~4 MeV for Bertini and Shielding, ~5 MeV for Inclxx and ~8 MeV for BIC and QBBC.
C12 is never produced.

Sorry Michel but I couldn’t understand you exactly. Are you talk about energies of proton? Because with 675 keV energy I was meaning kinetic energy of proton not the Q-value of reaction.

I am sorry for my english, hope you can understand me.
Selman

I was not speaking of Q, but on the minimal kinetic energy of proton beam.

Thank you for your all replies and help, I got the answer I was looking for.

Could you please let me know how to get flux (energy spectrum) of the alpha particles from proton boron fusion reactions. I am using geant4 version 11.2.1

You can not do fusion reaction with 675 keV proton energies.

Why ?

Answer: To overcome the Coulomb barrier the minimum energy requires will be 964 keV.

Can I do with higher energy protons of MeV range. Basically i need to input the proton spectrum energy from other PIC code into geant4. So is it possible to get alpha particle from the geant4 ? But i could not see any pid of the alpha particle How should i insert the cross section of the pB fusion reaction? Basically is this reaction is possible in Geant4?
