QGSP_BIC_AllH and QGSP_BIC_HP in Hadr03

I have a question!

I would like to use “QGSP_BIC_AllHP” for cross-section data of the C-12(p,X)C-11 and C-12(p,X)C-10 reactions induced by proton irradiation.

When I compared the results of “QGSP_BIC_HP” and “QGSP_BIC_AllHP” in Hadr03, the number of produced isotopes was significantly lower with “QGSP_BIC_AllHP”, and important isotopes such as C-11 and C-10 were not displayed.

What could be the reason for this?

I’m using Geant4-v11.3.0

AllHP uses the ENDF and TENDL evaluated databases. There is no ENDF data for C10, C11 (in fact only a few isotopes are present in ENDF) neither in TENDL. C10 and C11 are not present in natural C, so it is not surprising that there is no experimental data and their cross sections are 0.
HP uses its own model, not based on evaluated databases.

Thank you for your response!

I believe the data contained in /path/to/geant4-v11.3.0-install/share/Geant4/data/G4TENDL1.4/Proton/Inelastic/F02 corresponds to (p,X) reactions.

When I checked inside 6_12_Carbon.z, it seemed to contain the same data as shown in the following link (TENDL-2021):
https://www-nds.iaea.org/exfor/servlet/E4sGetIntSection?SectID=16394704&req=75674&e4up=0&PenSectID=19781785&pen=0

I believe that the “AWP : 1.091641+1” corresponds to C-11.

Therefore, if C-12 is present, I would expect C-11 to be produced…

Right, this line marks the start of the C11 XS data
6.011000e+03 1.091641e+01 0 1
and comparing the numbers to other products, the XS are negligible. Same for C10

Thank you!

Indeed, with 100 MeV proton irradiation, the neutron yield is 7.194589e−1, and C-11 yield is 4.972447e−2, which is about 1/15th of the neutron yield. While small, It doesn’t seem negligible.

In fact, although the model is different, when using “QGSP_BIC_HP”, particles with yields differing by about 100 are still displayed.

Is “QGSP_BIC_AllHP” set to exclude products when the cross sectional area falls below a certain threshold?

Additionally, is it possible to use other ENDF in Geant4?
