Voxel, Voxel Header and Node

I understand voxels are used to divide the volume for efficient particle movement and dose analysis. But facing a hard time understanding what voxel headers and nodes are. Further how can voxels be visualised in OpenGL?
In example B1 the Voxel statistics say… 1 header 3 nodes 4 pointers. What exactly does it mean?
Any inputs will be really helpful


You can see the voxels for a given logical volume with /vis/drawLogicalVolume.
