What are the advantages of doing a Geant4 simulation for a given experiment?

Hi, What are the advantages of doing a Geant4 simulation for a given experiment?. Thanks

Why not use Google Scholar to look up some papers where the authors discuss their Geant4 simulation (or even better, papers where they have Geant4, MCNP, Fluka, or other simulations which they cross compare). Then you can evaluate for yourself why simulations are important, and why Geant4 is more or less useful than other simulation frameworks.

Ok, thanks for your reply. I’ll keep that in mind. I think one of the most important benefits of doing a Geant4 simulation is for calibrating a detector, right?.

That depends on the experiment. There are lots of reasons to having a full simulation of a given experiment, both before it’s built and after data-taking. I encourage you to research this with peer-reviewed papers.

Ok, thank you for the reply. So, I’m going to read the papers in which Geant4 was used to see the reasons for using Geant4.

The main reason of choosing geant4 over other softwares is the functionality it provides.
Unlike MCNP and FLUKA which are limited to pre-set geometries,in geant4 we can take total control of the simulation. And its open source

Ok, thank you for providing more information. The information has been helpful. Now I think I understand things better.
