Dear G4 users,
I am interested in simulating X-ray phase contrast imaging. Is Geant4 capable of performing directly phase contrast imaging studies, or is it limited to intensity-based imaging only? Thanks in advance, and and have a great day!
Cheers,
A.H.
Gean4 is Monte Carlo program so not really for interference of waves, this I believe is what you need for phase contrast imaging? For this you would have to put in the path_length, not the best way of doing this. But I have seen beam line simulation programs that actually do this- you see interference from a slit.
But I have no idea of how you would implement this in Geant4- Its coherence and decoherence, Is the phase still there after scattering inelastic and elastic? I would say its not suitable but maybe someone has done it
wow just stumbled across this “Physica Medica, Volume 142, February 2026, 105716“. X-ray phase contrast imaging in GAMOS.
